
Animal Projects


This includes cattle and goats.
The dairy project allows youth to explore the dairy industry by expanding their knowledge of breeds, production, management, grooming and showmanship through a dairy animal.
Youth can also test their dairy cattle knowledge in the Dairy Skill-a-thon contest at the South Dakota State Fair.

The horse project always youth to become experience in daily care nutrition, handling, safety. Youth can compete in county & state horse shows, hippology, quiz bowl and horse judging.

Rodeo project allows youth to dive deeper into horse care and health while building lifelong friendships along the way.

The dog project teaches youth the basic care of dog and training practices. Youth can expand their knowledge by participating in obedience, rally, showmanship and agility training, making them a better dog owner.

Livestock includes the species of: Beef, Meat Goat, Sheep and Swine.
Youth can expand their knowledge of animal husbandry by growing and exhibiting livestock.
Youth can also gain knowledge by participating in the livestock Skill-a-thon and Judging Contest.

Small animals include: companion animals, poultry and rabbit. Youth can explore a wide variety of animals.
